A World War Two Secret: Glenn P. Larson and the U-505

By Beverly Larson Christensen

The drama and danger of World War II are remembered in this story about Regent, North Dakota, farm boy Glenn Larson and his unforgettable experience in 1944. This is an event to which he and thousands of other sailors were sworn to secrecy.  They were ordered, along with the others on the USS Guadalcanal to tell no one -- not wives, parents nor siblings -- about what had happened until Germany surrendered the following year.

Larson's daughter, Beverly Larson Christensen, shares the story about the day her father leapt onto a German U-boat in the ocean.  She also recounts his three years of service to his country and his civilian life that followed back in North Dakota as a husband, father and businessman.

It is another example of the heroism of America's greatest Generation.
