This is the second volume of Bismarck writer Doris Liffrig's remebrances of growing up in the northwestern town of Parshall, North Dakota, during the Great Depression years of the 1930s.
The book includes 13 new chapters covering school picnics, water witching, visiting the dentist and yard animals like roosters.
They illustrate to young readers lessons she learned from the Great Depression that creature comforts and material possessions are not always necessary for a happy home.
