Small Town Soldiers
A film by Cody Shimek
This hour-long documentary film tells the story of World War II through the experiences of seven veterans from McKenzie County in Western North Dakota. These soldiers' harrowing stories are told entirely in their own words using World War II film, still photos and clips from local newspaper archives.
Small Town Soldiers follows these brave men as they come of age in the Depression, react to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, engage in combat ranging from Guadalcanal to the European air war and finally return home -- forever changed.
